Journaling Prompts for Manifesting Your Dream Life

  • 1. What’s your biggest fear right now? Ask yourself why it’s your biggest fear – and how do you think this will affect your life in the future?
  • 2. What would you prefer not having? Do this by listing all of the things you have that you don’t want. Then ask yourself if each one of these things brings you happiness, meaning, joy, peace, love, and purpose.
  • 3. When was the last time you were happy? What did you do differently and how does this make a difference today? Write about everything you can recall and connect with something bigger than yourself.
  • 4. How do you cope when you feel like giving up? List things you’ve done when you’re feeling negative; then list everything you’ve done when you felt positive and optimistic. Did you notice anything missing from the list that might change your attitude?
  • 5. What’s your current situation really worth? Think about what you’d miss out on if you gave up on your dreams. Can you imagine being surrounded by people who share the same vision as yours? Would your life become more meaningful? Make a list of everyone who supports you.
  • 6. Who has inspired you in your past? What can others learn from you? Now list the three most important lessons that you’ve learned so far. Think of any other lessons you need to learn in order to succeed at this point in your life.
  • 7. Why are you here? This question opens up lots of possibilities. Consider some of the answers you could give. Make sure you include some things you haven’t thought about before. For example, “Because I know I’m going to win.” Or “It doesn’t matter what other people say because I’ll always follow my heart.”
  • 8. Why are you afraid to dream? Are there reasons why you believe that dreaming might not work? You may even find that you already have. Connect with your inner wisdom to see what you need to change.
  • 9. What do you wish for that you are afraid to have? Listen carefully to feelings within you. Do they tell you that you should try to go after certain dreams or wishes? Do they tell you not to try? Look at the fears and excuses that hold you back.
  • 10. Today I am… Write down a few sentences describing what you are doing for yourself. Be specific. It doesn’t matter whether it looks good or bad; it only matters that you do it!
  • 11. Today I have ______________. Think about the ways in which you improve yourself every single day. Do you use those skills in real-life situations? Is there anything else you can do in the present moment to bring about better opportunities tomorrow? Take inventory of your strengths and weaknesses.
  • 12. Who are you becoming? What habits contribute to your success? Where do you see yourself in six months’ time? In two years? In five years? What changes in your life will happen over the coming weeks and months? Write them down and then look for evidence to prove them true.
  • 13. If someone asked me right now, ‘Who are you?’ what would be my answer? What is unique about you? Think about where you came from and see where you are going.
  • 14. What is your legacy? Will your children remember your name? What message do you want to leave behind for others? Think about how your family, friends, teachers, mentors, and colleagues will describe you.
  • 15. What are your relationships like? Describe how you interact with the people around you. What makes you feel loved? Confident? Compassionate?
  • 16. Have I been living according to my values? What is it that gives me peace? What does my soul desire? Use these questions to help identify what you want in life.
  • 17. How much confidence and courage do you have? How many times have you made something happen when previously you didn’t think you could? Have you realized that the difference between those moments and the ones when you failed was simply one word? What did you call yourself instead of saying no? And what happened when you said yes?
  • 18. What motivates me? Don’t limit this prompt to just money. What do you love to do in life? Are you passionate about your career, hobbies, spiritual beliefs, friendships, or family? How will you express that passion?
  • 19. How can I live today to benefit myself later on? Live each day as if it were your last because someday it really is.
  • 20. How can I make choices that lead to happiness? Acknowledge your needs by writing them out. List all of the things that could potentially cause you unhappiness—from losing job to getting into an argument. Ask yourself: Does this actually happen? Can you control any of the things listed above? Put an X next to all the things you can truly influence. Now ask yourself: Which things are beyond your control? Could you ever control those things? If so, write them down as well.
  • 21. I choose to…Write down your top three goals. Then list everything you plan to do to move toward achieving those goals. What steps will you take? When will you start doing them? What obstacles may stand in your path? Be aware of negative thoughts that appear in front of you. Let them go. Focus only on the positive part of your day. Say, “I am grateful for such a beautiful morning.” Or, “This day feels so good!” This exercise helps you connect to something bigger than yourself. It is the way you practice self-love.
  • 22. My dreams become reality when…Imagine what you will achieve within the year ahead. What will you become? Imagine being famous or successful. What new business ideas will you launch? Create visions and plans for your future. Visualize possibilities.
  • 23. If I knew then what I know now, I would ______________________ Write down what you’ve learned. What’s important now? Where has life taken you? Is there anything else you have learned along the way? How do those memories affect who you are today? What lessons have you taught other people? Reflect on yourself by thinking back over your lifetime. Think of the experiences you had before you were born. Did they shape who you are today?
  • 24. What do I need to let go of to create more space in my life? What habits, attitudes, and behaviors must change? Take time to reflect upon your own behavior. Do you act impulsively? Do you get angry quickly? Would you let fear stop you from moving forward? Make sure to replace old patterns with new ones. Keep growing!
  • 25. What have you learned in the past few weeks? Has anything changed? If nothing has changed, ask why not? If you still feel stuck, ask yourself: Who do I see in my future? Whom do I admire? What do I want to accomplish?
  • 26. What are some ways I can be kinder and gentler with others? Try expressing gratitude even when someone doesn’t deserve it. Find opportunities to share compliments. Give generously. Smile at strangers. People won’t always respond positively, but every little bit counts. Be patient with yourself. You’re doing great!
  • 27. Tell me about a time when you felt you’d lost hope. What happened? Do you believe in miracles? Describe what really helped you.
  • 28. Imagine having one million dollars right now. What would you do? How much money would you save? How many people would love you? How many wishes would you grant? You can use this prompt again after each week of your journaling. The more you think about the idea, the more real it becomes.
  • 29. What do you believe? Is there a reason behind your beliefs? Write about your deepest convictions. Treat everyone respectfully. Speak up for myself. Say no when necessary. Take care of my body so I stay youthful. And keep reaching higher.
  • 37. Which habits hurt you the most? What’s your secret to breaking the habit? Could you take on another task? Perhaps you need a new job or relationship. Change may require courage. Consider making incremental changes instead of dramatic ones. Small steps forward are better than big leaps backward. That way, if you fail, you’ve only fallen a little.
  • 38. What do you expect out of life? Where are you headed? Maybe you don’t know yet. But it doesn’t matter because today’s your day to decide. So dream big. Explore possibilities. Make choices. Follow your heart. Go after what you want. Be brave.

Focus on how far you’ve come rather than how much further you have to go.
